The Fence Company Salado TX Homeowners Call When the Village Rules Matter
Salado mixes historic homes near Main Street and Salado Creek with newer neighborhoods and homes on acreage just off I-35. A lot of those properties need a fence that looks right from the street, holds up to Bell County wind and clay, and still passes the Village’s fence rules. Inside Village limits, even replacing the posts on an existing fence needs a permit, and chain link that faces the street usually isn’t allowed.
As a fence company Salado TX homeowners can count on, Sagamore Fence & Deck has been building fences and decks in Central Texas since 2007 (officially incorporated in 2013): nearly 20 years, nearly 10,000 clients and more than 18,000 projects. We’re based at 6550 FM 1105 in Georgetown, one of our crews is stationed in Jarrell just down I-35, and we’ve completed more than a dozen fence, gate and deck jobs in Salado.
We build ornamental iron, cedar privacy and ranch fences, drive and walk gates, plus wood and composite decks. For the permit, we mark up your property survey with the fence location, height and material and take the application from start to finish. Every Salado job is built by a fully insured crew and backed by our 1-year labor and workmanship warranty.

Salado Fence Permit & Deck FAQs
Do I need a permit to build or replace a fence in Salado, TX?
Inside Village limits, yes. The Village of Salado permit page says a permit is needed for a new fence, for replacing the posts, for changing the height or for moving a fence. The application needs a site plan showing the fence location, height and material. We draw it on your survey and handle the permit for you.
How tall can a fence be in Salado?
Behind the required front-yard line, a fence or wall can be up to 8 feet tall. Fences aren’t allowed in the required front yard of a home next to a public street, and a residential fence generally has to stay at least 15 feet from a public street, with an exception for some corner lots.
Can I use chain link or barbed wire in Salado?
Usually not where it faces the street. Barbed wire, electric and chain link fencing that is visible from a public right-of-way isn’t allowed as perimeter fencing, except to hold farm animals on parcels of one acre or more. We’ll suggest iron, wood or ranch-style options that fit the rule.
Where can a drive gate go in Salado?
Gates built for vehicles have to sit at least 25 feet back from the front property line. We plan the gate location and the fence line around that setback before we build.
Do I need a permit for a deck or pool fence in Salado?
A deck 30 inches or more off the ground needs a Village permit. Outdoor pools deeper than 14 inches must be enclosed by a fence at least 48 inches tall. We build both and take care of the paperwork.
Is Salado too far for Sagamore to service?
No. One of our crews is stationed in Jarrell, just down I-35, and we’ve completed more than a dozen jobs in Salado, including iron fence installs, fence replacements, ranch fencing and gates. Free on-site consults are available anywhere in Salado.
