The Fence Company Westlake TX Homeowners Trust With the Details

Across Westlake, the 78746 hills just west of downtown Austin, from West Lake Hills and Rollingwood to Rob Roy, Davenport Ranch, Westlake Highlands and Lost Creek, a fence or deck isn’t just a project. It sits next to a home you’ve put real thought into, on a hillside lot with old oaks, limestone and a view worth keeping. The City of West Lake Hills reviews fences for how they fit the neighborhood, and many streets have an HOA on top of that. What you don’t need is a contractor who misses the appointment, guesses at the code, or leaves you managing the paperwork.

You should get a finished project that looks like it was always part of the house, and a team that handles the hard parts. As a fence company Westlake TX homeowners can count on, Sagamore Fence & Deck has been building fences and decks in Central Texas since 2007 (officially incorporated in 2013): nearly 20 years, nearly 10,000 clients and more than 18,000 projects. We’re a TrexPro® builder listed on trex.com, our crews are fully insured, every project carries a 1-year warranty on all labor and workmanship, and we prepare the permit and HOA submittals for you.

We build modern horizontal and custom cedar fences, ornamental iron with stone columns, pool enclosures, driveway gates, Trex and other composite decks, and pergolas that shade the patio without blocking the view. On slopes, iron panels are racked or stepped to follow the grade, and we plan post locations around the trees you want to keep.

Westlake & West Lake Hills Fence & Deck FAQs

Do I need a permit to build a fence in West Lake Hills?

Yes. New fences and some fence remodels in the City of West Lake Hills need a permit, and applications go through the city’s MGO Connect portal. The city fence code asks for a site plan and fence details, and front-yard fences need more, like a street elevation and landscape plan. We prepare and submit the package for you.

Under the West Lake Hills fence code, a fence inside a setback can be up to 6 feet tall per side, measured from natural ground. Outside the setback, up to 8 feet is allowed if the fence is at least 80% see-through. Front-yard fences have their own setback, transparency and landscaping rules. We design to the limits that apply to your lot.

Front-yard fences must be at least 80% see-through, screened with native plants on the street side, and finished in natural colors like black, brown or rust. They sit at least 20 feet from the street pavement on lots under 0.75 acre, or 30 feet on larger lots. Ornamental iron with stone columns is a popular way to meet these rules.

Yes. Sagamore Fence & Deck is a TrexPro® builder, and you can find our listing on the Trex Find a Builder directory. We also build with other composite brands and natural wood.

Yes. We build pool enclosures, walk gates and driveway gates. In West Lake Hills, gates that lock need a security access box approved by Travis County Emergency Services District No. 9, and electric driveway gates need an emergency power source. We plan for both.

We serve all of Westlake in Austin’s 78746: the City of West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, Rob Roy, Davenport Ranch, Westlake Highlands, Lost Creek and the streets in between. Depending on the address, your lot may fall under West Lake Hills, Rollingwood, City of Austin or Travis County rules, plus an HOA, and we design to whichever apply. (This is the Westlake area of Austin, not the town of Westlake near Fort Worth.)
