Fence Staining & Sealing in Georgetown & Austin, TX
Protect Your Wood Fence From the Texas Sun
Central Texas sun, heat and rain are hard on bare wood. Over time an unprotected fence turns gray, dries out and can crack or warp. A good stain and sealer slows that down and brings out the color of the wood.
Sagamore Fence & Deck offers fence staining and sealing as a paid service for new and existing wood fences from our base at 6550 FM 1105 in Georgetown. We mainly use Ready Seal and Wood Defender, two stain and sealer products made for exterior wood.

Our Fence Staining Services
We help you pick the stain type and color, then apply it evenly so the whole fence has a consistent finish.
Staining new fences
Staining a new cedar or wood fence protects it from the start. We can stain a fence we build for you or one that is already standing.
- Stain for new wood fences
- Even coverage on boards, posts and rails
- Colors chosen with you before we start
Transparent and semi-transparent stain
Transparent stain has the least pigment and shows the most wood grain. Semi-transparent stain adds more color while still letting the grain show through.
- Shows the natural wood grain
- Warm cedar and natural tones
- A popular choice for cedar fences
Solid stain
Solid stain has the most pigment. It covers the grain much like paint while still soaking into the wood, and it can give older or mismatched boards a uniform look.
- Covers the grain for an even color
- Gray, black and other solid colors
- Good for older or mixed boards
Restaining and sealing older fences
Stain wears over time. Restaining an existing fence refreshes the color and adds protection back to the wood.
- Refresh faded or weathered fences
- Match or change the current color
- Pair with repairs if boards need replacing

Why Stain and Seal Your Fence
A stained fence looks better and is better protected than bare wood.
Protection from sun and water
Stain and sealer help shield the wood from UV rays and moisture.
Slows graying
Stain helps keep the wood from fading to gray as quickly.
Brings out the wood
Transparent and semi-transparent stains highlight the grain and color of cedar.
A uniform look
Solid stain evens out boards that have weathered differently.
Protects your investment
Regular staining is part of keeping a wood fence looking good for years.

Choosing Transparent, Semi-Transparent or Solid Stain
The main difference between stain types is how much pigment they contain. More pigment means more color and more coverage of the grain.
Transparent
The least pigment. Shows the most natural grain and color of the wood, with the lightest tint.
Semi-transparent
More pigment for richer color, while the grain still shows. A common choice for cedar fences.
Solid
The most pigment. Hides the grain for an even, painted-style color.
